Rough.
Rugged. Raw.
The Hooligan was born during war, and raised by displacement. He is
a one-time immigrant that found himself dwelling through the
city-streets of Chicago’s south side, bred by 79th Street and shaped
by Islam.
A buncha years later, Ed finds himself as scraggy as the day he was
birthed. Donning a beard as rough as his denim, he stares at
walls…coffee in one hand, cigarette in the other, grin on his mug
and fearlessness in his pupils.
Ed
is trying to revisit the “Golden Age” of Hip-Hop. Not in the cliché
‘anti-anything-not-underground’ manner, but rather an energetic
re-connection with the uncut forms that helped catapult the culture
into the bold grittiness that remains ‘til this day, buried beneath
the clouds of commercial superficiality. Influenced by everything
from the Wu-Tang to Minor Threat, ATCQ to RATM, Ed continues to
reinvent the very meaning of hardcore. Both obsessive and
compulsive, he pays close attention to systematically structuring
rhythms, methodically constructing syllables, and hittin’ you in the
head with that stylistic sickness.
