If you were to ever find an 8ball that could rap then you've
probably just met Gon. His odd inspiring sense of description will
have you thinking about the smallest detail in a different
perspective. Gon offers to Hip Hop, what Condolisa Rice offers to
Evil. Knowing that you can understand that he is lyrically
unmatched. In a world where being different has become redundant,
and being normal is unaccepted Gon shines as himself whether anyone
accepts it or not.
You’ve been observing this dirty city dweller for a few minutes. You
sit on the edge of the pavement looking at him. His face isn’t
covered at all yet you still can’t vividly visualize it. His pants
worn out and slightly ripped from the bottom left leg. He looks
stained but not dirty. He seems displeased with the world but
content about everything around him. He’s standing on the corner
across the street. He has a taped-up set of headphones on his ears.
In his left hand, he is holding a notebook. In the spiral of that
notebook, you notice a pen and hint some sort of a romantic
connection between it and its owner.

In his
right hand, he is holding a copy of the Holy Quran. The reason
you’ve been noticing him is because he has been noticing you. Groups
of people pass him, but they don’t notice him. He doesn’t care to
look at them, either. His eyes don’t shift away from you at all.
He’s still looking at you. Not an intimidating ice-grill. Not a look
of curious interest. Not a look of love, lust, or infatuation.
No…just a look. He is looking as if he just discovered that he had
eyes and can use them to perceive things. Blank stare. Not staring
through you but directly at you. One minute. His jeans were dusty
and his shirt was a dark black that could’ve easily challenged
nighttime and won. Two minutes. The whites in his eyes shone
brightly to contrast with his shirt. Three minutes. You couldn’t
decide whether you wanted to send him a tulip or a ticking time
bomb. Four minutes. You feel a surreal pull around your eyes. Five
minutes. You realize that he has already left…he is GON. |
